After getting my butt kicked in Rifle, it was time for some finger strength test pieces. Ten Sleep is the land of pocketed, vertical limestone and TINY crimps.

I met Ali Ba-Ba here in Ten Sleep at the beginning of August and we picked up Liz amd Diva as part of our crew during our visit. The weather felt hot, but once you were in the shade, climbing felt great! A typical day in Ten Sleep began with sleeping in as late as humanly possible, maybe going for run in the a.m., practicing some yoga, eating a big breakfast and having several pots of coffee. You had to wait till about 1400 for the walls to go into the shade. Most days, we couldn't sit still that long and ended up heading to the crag by 1130. Which ended in us warming up in the sun \/

Rest days were spent tap dancing in the streets, sitting in the hot springs, visiting bourbon distilleries, going to town for groceries (which was a TRIP!), visiting local thrift stores, having coffee and sweet treats at the local coffee shop before they closed at 1400, then heading over to Ten Sleep Brewery to enjoy delicious beer, hot showers, and getting your butt kicked by Liz in Scrabble.

The hikes here were kinda brutal, esp after coming from Rifle! The French Cattle Ranch was like 30 mins almost all uphill and STEEP at the end. Slavery Wall was about the same. The Arc was... well let's just say, we were just happy we made it! Maybe Ali and I were just wimps, but we sure got whipped into shape after all these hikes!

Ten Sleep was the place to onsight! Super well bolted, not super physical or pumpy, not super technical either. You could just rack up and climb route after route and tick onsights. It was a good challenge for me because I hate hanging draws. Ten Sleep got me way more psyched to hang my own draws and give 'er hell!

Unlike Rifle, where you would have to climb one day on and one day off and you were physically/mentally exhausted after every day, you woke up in Ten Sleep with extremely sore finger joints and sore legs from hiking. It was an entirely different ball game but made for a great few weeks of climbing.

We met some amazing people in Ten Sleep and hope to see them all again next year!
